Patient Care Technician

The purpose of the Patient Care Technician is to develop skills required in the application of knowledge gained through the academic and laboratory coursework and practical externship provided; by ensuring competence in the material required for quality performance in related employment. Providing medical professionals with the ability and the technical skills necessary to perform

  1. Phlebotomy
  2. EKG
  3. Performing catheterization
  4. Routine tests
  5. Recording vital signs
  6. Patient care
  7. Nursing assistant
  8. Cardiac monitoring
  9. Unit data management
  10. And more

 

This course will also focus on acute and specialized patient care. This program will prepare student for entry level position as patient care technician. Students are prepared to work in many fields available to them such as hospitals, nursing homes, hospice agencies, clinics, under direction of a registered nurse, direct or indirect patient care.

 

The length of the program is 15 weeks. 360 hours spend in classroom and 100 hours to be completed at internship/ externship site. Classes will be held during the day, evening and weekends.
